An avid bread and pizza baker, and unconditional natural yeast lover, I once had this random thought: „What if I opened a pizza place that’s called yeast infection?"

Would people come? Maybe if I call it by its scientific name, and if I make it really pretty and a bit sexy. After all, if you don’t know what Candidiasis means, you will not be bothered. All you do you know is, that everything is fungi related. The dough, the toppings, the drinks. Why is that? Maybe just a funny fad of the owner. Or maybe a naughty joke that became a reality.

Since the restaurant name is an actual unpleasant experience, we balanced it out with heavy glamour and a sexy vintage atmosphere of velvet curtains, lilies, white table linen and sturdy porcelain and glass wear. Plus a serif font developed by a woman that was equally inspired by vintage, namely old Westerns.

And because a pizza place is and should always be an affordable and down-to-earth experience, we chose to pair it with an Italian font, Font populista, that can be seen everywhere in Italy, on bars, cafés, road signs, and more. It’s a font that is heavily used wherever someone needs a quick writing on a wall. You can buy the letters in hardware stores, and we love how simple it is, yet put together in the right way, it can take on a complete different dimension while staying true to itself.

Deep reds and lush golds make up the basic colours, referring to the product itself, and taking a cue from traditional pizza place branding. B&W's cutouts wink at old Italian film posters and bring and honour the heritage of this simple idea.
